Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing, that I might bring souls unto repentance; that I might bring them to taste of exceeding joy of which I taste; that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. ~ Alma 36:24

Lyman Markunos Baptism

Sister Mackenzie and I pulling faces and waiting for the baptism.

Sister Kranendonk and the ward mission leader with his wife and grandma.

Sister Mackenzie, Bishop Terry Walker, Lyman Markunos, Sister Kranendonk

Lyman and his friend.  She was the one to invite Lyman to learn more from the missionaries.  His very first lesson with us was in her home.  In the first lesson we invited Lyman to be baptized and he excepted.  Three weeks later, he was baptized. :)

So remember the guy I told you about you? The one who came and talked to us while picking up the garbage cans. He said he wasn't ready to get baptized.  Look he got baptized today!!!

Whoooo Loves Sister Kranendonk?

This past weekend we were all together except for our amazing sister missionary.  We are so proud of her for serving a mission, but this weekend we all really missed her.  Since Emily was going to miss our baby shower we decided that we need to do something to include her in our weekend.  I made this owl sign for all our friends and family to sign at the shower.  Not everyone got a chance to sign it during shower so I brought to our family get together.  We hope Sister Kranendonk knows how much we love her.  I can't wait to drop it off with some other surprises to the Mesa Visitors' Center.

The best part was having people pose with the owl.  In this picture my Dad told everyone to hoot like an owl.  Pretty hilarious.  I will definitely be printing this picture up for Sister Kranendonk's collection.

Gifts from Sister Kranendonk

Emily has always considered herself my Mom's favorite kid.  To say that she is a favorite aunt probably isn't too far of a stretch either.  A few months ago she gave me a large bag of wooden toys for all the nieces and nephews in our family.  She even had a toy for the baby we are expecting.  Emily got these wonderful toys from Sister Anderson's dad.  He made every one of these beautiful toys.  We made another trip to Salt Lake and had the awesome job of passing out these gifts from Sister Kranendonk.  To say that the little people in our family loved them would be an understatement.  She is so thoughtful!

Layla loved her Scotty dog!
Abbie couldn't have been more thrilled with her pig and
Brianna enjoyed her duck.
Jacob knew what to do with his new car.
Anyone who knows Robbie knows that
trains are his favorite toy.

If you are interested in these toys, you can check out Sister Anderson's Dad's blog:

Tour of the Mesa Visitors' Center

Brought to you by Sister Kranendonk

Mesa Temple Visitors' Center
The Visitors' Center is a place for members to more easily share the gospel with their friends. People come here seeking for spiritual guidance and for their faith to be increased. When people can't go to the temple they come here. It is the next best place to go

This is my favorite room in the visitor center. It is so peaceful and quiet. The spirit can so easily be felt. I know that Jesus Christ has something to say to each of us each and every day. He needs to be a reality in our lives. We must pray and turn to the scriptures each and every day to strengthen that relationship. When they were starting to work on the visitor center the Christus statue came across the ocean on a boat and then on train to Arizona. The statue was so heavy and tall that the visitor center had to be built around the Christus statue. Just like the Visitor's Center our lives need to be built around Jesus Christ.

Family Proclamation
Families truly can be together forever. I know that each of us have a divine nature. We are to become like our Heavenly Father. We best learn this within our families. Our families help to foster and develop Christlike attributes. I know this is modern scripture for our day. Heavenly Father has many patterns for us to follow. He has a pattern for the family. The pattern begins with a man and a woman being legally married.

Children can be simply taught the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel really is so simple that even a child can understand it.

South view from the Visitors' Center
Everything we do in the church should point us to Jesus Christ and getting to the temple. The temple is Heavenly Father's house. A place where we go to learn more about His plan. I know we can see glimpses of eternity there. This place is so sacred. We must prepare ourselves to go inside. Yes not everyone can go into the temple but we invite all to prepare themselves to go to the temple. It is a place we all need to go to often.

Teachings of Modern Prophets
Prophets are evidence of our Heavenly Father's love for us. We can more completely follow our Heavenly Father as we follow His chosen servants, who have been called and blessed with the authority to act in His name. Prophets truly speak for our eternal gain. They help us to know who God and Jesus Christ are. I know prophets are there to lead and guide us. I know that Thomas S. Monson is truly the Lord's mouth piece on the earth. He truly has been called. I feel of the priesthood power that God has given to Thomas S. Monson.

The Book of Mormon
The Book of Mormon is truly the key stone of our religion. We have another witness of Christ. The Book of Mormon has been translated into more than 80 languages. It is much better to read the Book of Mormon in your own language. It is more meaningful to you. I know the Book of Mormon is what people need in their lives in order to know the truthfulness. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It was translated by a prophet of God.

Moroni 10:4
The Book of Mormon comes with a powerful promise. If we but pray with sincerity and real intent we will come to know the truth. Every question or concern that we have in life can be addressed in the Book of Mormon. God has something to say to us each and every day. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It was translated by a prophet of God.

God' Plan for His Family
I love taking people through God's Plan for His Family. It is a powerful experience for all who go through it. It can be a wonderful experience or can bring sorrow to those who see it. None of our families are perfect. But Heavenly Father will provide a way for us to have an eternal family. Those promises are always there for each of us. Don't ever think you have messed up so bad that you cannot have those blessings
Family Search
Family history work is such a neat experience. It can be kind of addicting. There is much work to be done for our ancestors who have gone before us. I know they are waiting for us.

I hope you enjoyed your visit at the Visitors' Center today. I hope you felt the spirit and that your faith was strengthened and more centered in Jesus Christ.

Love,

   Sister Kranendonk

Letter: 9/24/2012 ~ Trust

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all are doing well. I hope Katherine, Rob, and Chloe have nice birthdays. I am so thankful to hear from you. It is so nice. I love to hear from family and friends. I always have support. I know can count on all of you. I wish I could have been there for the shower. It would be fun just to sit to talk, laugh and enjoy one another's company. But before you know it, that will be happening. I only have four transfers left. Time is going by so quickly. I am amazed how fast it is going. I feel I should be changing as fast as the time is going by. But if Heavenly Father really wanted me to change that quickly, He would provide a way for that to happen. I am so thankful that the experiences we go through life teach us to Trust in Him more. I feel like all of us are constantly learning that lesson. I am truly thankful for it.

Saturday was a crazy day. We had Elder Bednar come and speak to us. He spent three hours with the missionaries, four hours with the bishops and stake presidents and two hours with the young single adults. I am amazed by how he truly is an instrument for the Lord. He is wasting and wearing out his life in strengthening everyone. Each session he had was a discussion. He spent all of the time answering questions about our concerns. He was trying to teach us how to follow spirit. Truly the spirit is the teacher and source of all truth. We can only truly learn for ourselves from the spirit. I must be determined to act when I pray and get up and do what I know I need to do. Too often we don't live all of what we know.

Cheryl's baptism was beautiful. I love her so much. I am so thankful for her. She truly has been changed by the spirit. Only the spirit could help her overcome her challenges and let go of the things of this world. She has been prepared to receive Heavenly Father's gospel. She had tears in her eyes. She looked beautiful. It was wonderful to be there.

Lyman is getting baptized this coming weekend. He has truly felt the spirit too. He knows this is what he wants. He wants to leave behind his old life and start anew. He always says the best prayers. I have been blessed to know him and be a part of his life.

Transfers are coming next week. Saturday I will find out what happens. I most likely will stay where I am.

I love you all. I miss you all like crazy.

Cheryl Shaker's Baptism

Cheryl's mom, Cheryl Shaker, and her brother

Cheryl's nephew referred Cheryl to the missionaries. We were so lucky to have taught her.
We loved her so much.

Cheryl holds a special spot in my heart. I love her dearly. She spent a lot of time reading the Book of Mormon. She gave up smoking and drinking coffee all on her own. We didn't even have to ask her. She started that all on her own cause she knew she needed to. Her family was very excited for her to get baptized.

Letter: 9/17/2012 ~ Companions

Dear Family,

How is everyone? I am so thankful for the love and support that I am constantly shown. I truly have been blessed with a wonderful family. I am blessed to have family that write me and not the opposite. Sister Lewis's family doesn't want much to do with her. I feel bad for her. But she is strong and knows that I am her family. She is awesome.

Sister Mackenzie and I have been seeing a lot of miracles. The work is moving forward at such a quick pace. I am so thankful to be learning and growing alongside of Sister Mackenzie. Yes we have our struggles but we know that we are suppose to be companions. Heavenly Father put us together for a reason. There are so many people who want to have the gospel. I am amazed at all of the teaching we have been doing lately. We pray for one another. We have come to appreciate one another. We are learning to love one another and to be forgiving of one another. We all seek for forgiveness. It truly is a gift we give to others. I know I desire for Heavenly Father to forgive me. But if I don't forgive my companion of the smallest little thing then I won't receive forgiveness. We continue to love even though people may do things at time that disappoint us or they may have wronged us. Jesus Christ's atonement covers that. He can heal us from those wounds.

I am sad because one of the people I have been teaching on the phone for seven months now was going to get baptized today. But yesterday he texted me to tell me he wasn't going to get baptized. I felt so bad. I don't understand it all. I feel bad he said it over text and didn't call me.

We went out to lunch with Br. Maxwell who is a high councilmen in the YSA stake. He always counsels us on what kind of missionaries we need to be. He talked about the value of walking beside your companion. He said do you expect to walk in front of your spouse the rest of your life. NO he said. He said so start now and walk beside your companion. My companion doesn't always want to walk next to me because I have done something that makes her mad. I usually tend to walk fast and she usually takes her time. So I have had to slow down my pace. She slows down her pace too. It is struggle for me. We drag our feet. But we are representing Jesus Christ. It doesn't look good to walk down the street when you are not walking next to your companion. I am learning the value of slowing down. I know that I am not going to get to the Celestial kingdom by myself. What fun is it to be by yourself? Its not fun. Heavenly Father didn't mean for us to go through life by ourselves. I pray for help to be more patient.

I am doing great and loving life. My feet do not bother me at all. I try to take care of my feet. I am happy. I am so thankful to be serving my Heavenly Father. I love Him and I know He loves me to.

Yesterday in relief society, there was a lady who gave a lesson on the word of wisdom. She use to be overweight. She showed us a picture of herself. She said that she was on every diet, every pill, doing all that she can to loose weight. As she was working out, she felt an impression to study the word of wisdom. As she spent time studying the word of wisdom in Doctrine and Covenants 89, she came to learn that Heavenly Father has taught us all that we need to do to take care of our bodies. He is the creator of us, so why can't he instruct us on how to take care of ourselves. After she studied it, she came to learn how to loose weight. Right now she is the skinnest she has ever been in her life, after having five kids. She is not having to go on all of these crazy diets. I just thought that was a neat and personal thing for her to share with us. I know Heavenly Father can instruct us in how to overcome all the challenges we face. I know He loves us. Jesus Christ truly created us under the direction of our Heavenly Father. They know every cell of our bodies. They are the greater healers of our souls and bodies. I know this to be true in the name of Christ amen.

I love you all.

Love,

Sister Kranendonk
